Finding Joy and Rest in the Chaos

The Christmas season is a time of joy, celebration, and family, but let’s be honest—it can also be overwhelming. Between shopping, hosting, decorating, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to get so caught up in the hustle that we overlook the blessings God has for us in this season. Ladies, my prayer for us is that we do not get so busy doing, that we miss the hidden gifts of the season we're in.

When I stop and think about what this season represents, I always find perspective. In Bethlehem, 2000 years ago, Jesus was preparing to enter the world for the first time in human form. God saw our deep need for a savior. He witnessed our brokenness, the shame we carried, and the complete absence of hope. There was only one way to save the people he loved so much. I can just picture a weeping God making the impossible decision to give his own son in our place.

That revelation, of a love so deep, so profound, that we would be rescued, in spite of our sin, is hard to grasp. But beyond salvation, the blood of Jesus that redeems us, there is a loving God who desires a relationship with us. He sees you and all that is on your plate. He knows the financial burden you carry. The stress you are in, caring for young children. He gets the weight of grief, as you mourn over what is lost. Christmas isn't a time to force the smiles and keep up with the demands. Instead, it can be a time to search for those hidden gifts.

God wants to connect with you this season. To give you deep peace and real, genuine joy. He wants you to rest in Him, and find that stillness that allows you to see He is able and He is good. Here are four blessings (gifts) to look for this Christmas season:

1. God’s Presence Is With You (Matthew 1:23):

One of the most beautiful names of Jesus is Emmanuel, which means “God with us.” In the chaos and noise, remember that you are never alone. God is with you in every moment, bringing peace and comfort to your heart.

2. God Will Provide (Philippians 4:19):

The financial and emotional pressures of the holidays can feel overwhelming. But take heart—God promises to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. Trust that He is a good Father, and He will provide exactly what you need for this season.

3. God Gives You Rest (Matthew 11:28-29):

When the stress begins to weigh on you, Jesus invites you to come to Him for rest. This isn’t just physical rest but soul-deep peace that refreshes and sustains. Step outside of the noise. Make time to pause, breathe, and spend quiet moments with Him.

4. God Brings Joy (Luke 2:10-11):

The angel’s announcement to the shepherds reminds us that Jesus brings “good news of great joy.” This joy is not dependent on perfect circumstances but on the unshakable truth that we have a Savior who loves us. Your future is BRIGHT because God has promised it. And joy comes knowing that He will work out all things for your good.

This Christmas, let’s slow down and savor these promises. Take time to reflect, pray, and embrace the joy of His presence. Remember, the greatest gifts are not under the tree—they are found in Him.

Merry Christmas!
