God is First in My Time
“In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” Proverbs 3:6
What a promise! Putting God first in your everyday life produces God’s direction and a successful outcome.
Proverbs 3:5-6 talks about the woman who trusts Him with all her heart will be directed in all her ways. We’re all in various seasons which can distract us from putting God first. Most women are busy with the responsibilities of life, family, and careers, BUT you can put Him first by trusting God to guide you when you allow Him first place in your decision making.
So, how do busy women give God first priority and experience success in their full life? He gave Joshua some ways to give God first place. See Joshua 1:7 & 8.
Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do [everything] according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, SO THAT YOU MAY HAVE SUCCESS WHEREVER YOU GO. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth. But you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you'll have success.
I see three benefits to putting God first in everything you do:
SAY what God says and He will make your way successful.
THINK about His word and He will make your way prosperous.
DO what God says and you will have success.
SAY: Have you ever said the wrong words and immediately regretted it? In contrast, when loving words are spoken, people get built up and blessed. Every time you encourage someone you are putting God first in your day.
“My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.” Psalm 49:3
THINK: Philippians 4:8 says, ‘fix your thoughts on what is true, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy.’ You can live above negative thinking. When you set your mind on things above, you are setting the course for your day. See Colossians 3:2
DO: “Be kind and helpful to one another, tenderhearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another [readily and freely], just as God in Christ also forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
Being the kind, understanding and compassionate person who forgives others means you’re doing what the Lord wants first before your own desires.
PRAY AND ASK GOD to help you be the wonderful person he created you to be. One who speaks of wisdom and understanding. Make a decision to start your day by setting your mind on heavenly things. Create a list of ways you can be kind to your loved ones by being helpful, compassionate and ready to forgive trespasses.
REMEMBER: God will give you success in everything you do when you put Him first!
