Wise Women Still Seek Him

All wisdom comes from seeking God. As women, we have a great capacity to not only seek the Lord, but to know Him intimately. Have you ever been confused, troubled or agitated and wondered, “Where is Jesus in all this?” Those times when you feel discouraged, confused or unsure, and when circumstances or relationships seem unsteady, that is the time to seek Him.

Sometimes your desperation can better prepare you for the revelation you need, giving you the understanding and opportunity to see things differently. Wise women know how to put Jesus first in all they do. They have learned how to depend on Him, they know how to worship Him in good times and in bad because that is the response an encounter with Jesus brings, and THAT is wisdom.

The story that comes to mind is so familiar, yet so profound. It’s the story that we traditionally read when our family gathers to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Each year, I am especially drawn to the wise men. Maybe you have seen this saying written on a plaque or pasted on a bumper sticker, “Wise men still seek Him.” When I see it, I am reminded that it is so much more than a witty saying. The wise men were on a spiritual quest, determined to find Jesus. The Bible says, when they found Him, “…they fell down and worshipped Him." They not only sought Him, they found Him, and when they did, they worshipped. Their response was natural; a response to who He is. He promises us that when we seek Him, we will find Him, when we search for Him with all our heart (Jeremiah 29:13).

His birth was God becoming flesh; born to be found by you. He longs for you to lay aside all the distractions, so that you might seek Him and see Him for who He is.

Worship Him with me today: Lord, I am in awe of you; You are my Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
